So let's get the Pizza delivery reference out of the way. Last week the DomiCopter went viral: A British Domino's franchise promo'd a UAV delivering a Domino's pizza (see video below).
The idea of pizza-delivering UAVs might seem outlandish, but it represents the myriad of commercial and public applications waiting to happen once the FAA opens up airspace for UAVs to fly. Last week National Geographic profiled five UAV uses they considered surprising. They identified hurricane hunting, 3-D mapping, protecting wildlife, precision agriculture, and search and rescue.
